Herbert C. Klein joined Nowell Amoroso Klein Bierman to cap a career as one of New Jersey's foremost trial lawyers following his distinguished service in the U.S. House of Representatives and on its Banking Committee. His practice encompasses Government Relations, Banking, Real Estate and Litigation.

As a leader on the House Banking Committee and the House Science Committee, Congressman Klein was responsible for major legislative initiatives. He was the architect of the key provision which sparked passage of the legislation that finally closed out the problems in the Savings & Loan and Thrift Industry. He co-sponsored the bills that authorized interstate branch banking. On the Science Committee, he co-authored the National Competitiveness Act designed to help American industry regain world leadership in manufacturing.

As a trial lawyer, Mr. Klein has been lead counsel in some of the most important trials in the State. In Laganella v. Braen he obtained a $10.7 million verdict, which at the time was one of the largest civil verdicts on behalf of an individual plaintiff in New Jersey. In that case and a score of others he was on the cutting edge of major developments in the law. Mr. Klein has tried hundreds of cases in a wide variety of areas including securities, anti-trust, construction, product liability, professional liability, insurance, corporate, zoning and trust law.

As a business lawyer, Mr. Klein has counseled banks, savings and loans, real estate interests, insurance companies and industrial companies. He has served as organizer of a real estate investment trust and an insurance company.

Mr. Klein has been a guest speaker before the National Home Builders Association, New Jersey Bankers Association, America's Community Bankers, the Mortgage Bankers Association and numerous other groups.

Mr. Klein is also a leader in civic and community affairs. He serves on the Board of Overseers of Rutgers University, Beth Israel Hospital of Passaic and the Daughters of Miriam Center for the Aged and is a past president of the Jewish Federation of Clifton-Passaic.

He is listed in Who's Who in the United States and Who's Who in American Politics.

After receiving a Bachelor's degree from Rutgers University, Mr. Klein graduated from Harvard Law School and received a Master of Laws degree from New York University.
