Mr. Martin's area of practice is concentrated in complex commercial litigation, land use, community association law and transportation. In addition to representing business interests he has broad experience serving as counsel to condominium and homeowners associations in a wide range of matters providing litigation, regulatory and counseling services. Mr. Martin also represents commercial clients including real estate developers, corporate entities and international transportation and logistics companies in litigation, regulatory compliance and corporate counseling.
Mr. Martin is in the forefront of the sophisticated and evolving field of condominium and cooperative association law. As a member of the Legislative Action Committee of the New Jersey Community Associations Institute, Mr. Martin works with members of the New Jersey State Legislature to help educate and clarify the issues on pending legislation. Mr. Martin made important contributions to the New Jersey Uniform Common Interest Ownership Act (the
"UCIOA") and prepared the Friend of the Court brief for the New Jersey State Appellate Division and Supreme Court on the landmark Twin Rivers case ñ the first in the nation to address public constitutional free speech occurring in private common interest associations. Mr. Martin is a quoted authority in the field and represents associations extensively.
Mr. Martin serves on a municipal zoning board of adjustment and as a member of the Board of Directors of the Nutley Family Service Bureau.
Mr. Martin received his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland and earned his Juris Doctorate from Seton Hall University School of Law. As a member of the Seton Hall Legislative Journal, he authored the Note, The Comprehensive Terrorism Prevention Act of 1995. Following law school Mr. Martin served as Judicial Law Clerk to the Honorable Frank M. Donato, J.S.C., Passaic County.
Mr. Martin is admitted to practice in the State and Federal Courts of New Jersey, in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Mr. Martin is a member of the Bergen County Bar Association and is a Certified Civil Mediator.
